If you’re interested in having a more tooth-focused Halloween in Shreveport, Louisiana, then you have come to the right blog! With our dentist, Dr. Sharon Sims’s, tips, your child’s smile can have a little more fun this Halloween. Those tips are:

First, give your child the idea of carving their pumpkin like a tooth! Now, this might seem a little boring, but it doesn’t have to be. Let your child get creative. They can carve their pumpkin like a tooth that is dressed up in a Halloween costume. Some costumes could be Dracula, a pirate, the Tooth Fairy, a witch, Frankenstein, or even a cowboy or cowgirl! For your convenience, there are pumpkin carving stencils available on the American Dental Association’s website.

Second, inspire your child to keep their teeth in mind when they are trick-or-treating. Remind them that chewy, sticky, sugary, and acidic candies can attack the teeth and create cavities. It’s best to stick to treats that aren’t as harmful to the smile. Some candies to avoid include gummy worms, sour candies, suckers, Starbursts, and Laffy Taffy.
